Claudio Bravo
Claudio Bravo (November 8, 1936 – June 4, 2011) was a
Chilean hyperrealist painter. He was greatly influenced by Renaissance and
Baroque artists, as well as Surrealist painters such as Salvador Dalí. He lived
and worked in Tangier, Morocco, beginning in 1972. Bravo also lived in Chile,
New York and Spain. He was known mainly for his paintings of still lifes,
portraits and packages, but he had also done drawings, lithographs, engraving
and figural bronze sculptures. Bravo painted many prominent figures in society,
including dictator Franco of Spain, President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady
Imelda Marcos of the Philippines and Malcolm Forbes. Bravo was born in Valparaíso,
Chile,
to Tomás Bravo Santibáñez and Laura Camus Gómez. His father was a successful
businessman who also owned a ranch, and his mother was a housewife.

I went to Metropolitan Museum this Monday October 15, 2012
to look for the paintings of Claudio Bravo and that was my first time to go
there. When we first get enter the museum it seems to be so quiet and seems
that me and my companion was the only two visitors that time but it’s just a
presumption. Hahaha. But Seriously I was very impressed with Claudio’s work It
was very amazing, if you look at his paintings you can see how much he work hard for it and how much he intend
his time just to complete his paintings. He was so very dedicated and it shows
that he really love what he is doing. He
only uses pencil, Charcoal, Pastel in most of his paintings. At first sight you
will think that creating a painting was very easy because it’s just a drawing
but for Claudio his paintings were not just a painting but his life. In many
artist creating a painting is not just a form of art but an art which they can express
their emotions, feelings, and though and also shows a representation of themselves.
Sad to say we are not allowed to take pictures inside but
instead I download some pictures of his paintings. :)

Portrait of Imelda Cojuangco
In
all the paintings that Claudio bravo’s created this is the one who really attracted me the most maybe because I
like the way how Imelda carry herself in this painting and because I love the
color of the background and her dress.
A portrait is a painting,
photograph, sculpture,
or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its
expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality,
and even the mood of the person.
Sorry, I am not good in drawing instead I edited a picture
of mine using a PhotoMania which is an application in Facebook. The First picture was the original one, the second one is created in PhotoMania with morning effects and the third one with sketch effects.
The picture was
taken on my birthday August 25, 2012 at Sda 6th flr..
The
first picture was obviously the original one…The second picture which is
edited with a morning effects, symbolizes that you must
always “Start your day with a smile” which
means every time you wake up in the morning START your day with a smile and
your day will END with a smile :) and the third one is the sketch one
which symbolizes my simplicity.
"This picture symbolizes of who I
am as a simple person who is always Wearing a simple smile in face" ^_^
